 A label is
the attached to the back side of the
specimen, and the labeled specimen is
mounted in a 1 to 1.25" epoxy plug.
The epoxy protects the specimen from
mechanical stresses during grinding,
polishing, and etching.
I prefer to use a two-part epoxy made by
Extec of Enfield Connecticut (the resin
is Extec #14729, and the hardner is
Extec #14732). This epoxy cures at
room temperature and has very good edge
retention. |
